Tyler ISD campuses to honor Veterans with ceremonies, events

Many Tyler ISD campuses will honor the men and women who have served and are serving our country with special ceremonies and events in remembrance of Veterans Day. These student-led events will feature musical performances, community guest speakers, student essays, and many other forms of appreciation. All veterans and current military service members are invited to attend the celebrations.



Tyler ISD Campus Ceremonies and Events:


Austin Elementary School
Veterans Day Ceremony
Thursday, Nov. 10
9:00 a.m. in the Cafeteria
Fifth graders will perform a moving Veterans Day ceremony.


Caldwell Elementary Arts Academy

Thursday, Nov. 10

11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Veterans Luncheon

All local veterans are invited to enjoy a light lunch in their honor. Please sign in through the main office. Luncheon will be held in the gymnasium.


Ramey Elementary School

Veterans Day Program and Academic Night

Thursday, Nov. 10

5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Reading and Social Studies activities will be set up in the gym.

6:30-7:00 p.m. Kindergarten and 1st grade will perform their musical selections for our Veterans Day Program.


Rice Elementary School

“We Honor the Brave” Veterans Program

Thursday, Nov. 10

6 p.m.

Third graders will celebrate Veterans Day and honor those who have served in the Armed Forces.


Birdwell Elementary School

Veterans Day Program

Friday, Nov. 11

1 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. in the Auditorium

Birdwell Elementary School will host a special Veterans Day Program for students, parents and the community. Veteran and Tyler ISD Board of Trustee member Rev. Fritz Hager will be the guest speaker.


Bonner Elementary School

Veterans Day Assembly

Friday, Nov. 11

9:45 a.m.

Veteran and Principal Cazares, along with other special Veteran guest speakers, will speak to students.


Boulter Middle School

Veterans Day Assembly

Friday, Nov. 11

8:30 a.m.

Boulter Middle School invites all Veterans from Tyler and beyond to enjoy a continental breakfast at 8:30 a.m. followed by a celebratory tribute to our past and present men and women of the Armed Forces.


Clarkston Elementary School

Veterans Day Breakfast

Friday, Nov. 11

7:30 a.m.

Clarkston Elementary will host a breakfast reception for veterans in our community.


Dixie Elementary School

Veterans Day Program

Friday, Nov. 11

8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Fourth graders will welcome special guest speaker and 20 year Veteran, Robert Gibson. Mr. Gibson is in the process of publishing a children’s book titled Magic Camel and he will bring a draft to show the students. He will talk to students about how he uses his military background in the story and the purpose of his story. 


Douglas Elementary School

Veterans Day Celebration

Students will honor the Veterans that have served our country.


Jones Elementary MST Academy

Veterans Day Program

2 p.m.

We are proud to know many woman and men who currently serve or have served in the United States military. We invite you to attend as we pay respect to those who have taken the oath to protect the citizens of America.

2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Cafeteria
Students will honor Veterans by holding a patriotic assembly with songs, reading and a speaker.


Three Lakes Middle School

Veterans Day Breakfast

Friday, Nov. 11

7:45 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.

Students will enjoy breakfast with their Veteran guests. The Boy Scouts will present the colors.


Andy Woods Elementary School

Veterans Day Program

Friday, Nov. 11

2 p.m.

Second graders will perform a special Veterans Day program to honor friends and family who are Veterans.


John Tyler High School
Veterans Day Ceremony
Friday, Nov. 11
9:00 a.m. in the Varsity Gym

John Tyler High School’s Army Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) will present the 2016 Veterans Day Ceremony. This presentation will include a Color Guard, history of Veterans Day, a Fallen Soldier Memorial and a Missing Man Table. Supporting the event will be the John Tyler Band, Choir and individual singers.


SuddenLink Communications will host a complimentary breakfast for Veterans from the community and school. All students and faculty members with family members who are Veterans are encouraged to contact the JROTC Department for a seat. The breakfast will be served from 7:30 a.m. until 8 a.m. Early responders will be recognized during the ceremony.
