Tyler ISD Veteran Profiles: William Allen

November 8, 2016

Veteran William “Billy” Allen served in the United States Army from 1999 through 2004, spending three years at 1/75 Ranger Battalion in Georgia and one year in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Specialist Allen had 31 jumps as a paratrooper and completed two foreign deployments; the first to Afghanistan in 2002 and the second to Iraq in 2003.

Specialist Allen is currently serving as a special education and deaf education inclusion teacher at Clarkston Elementary School and Robert E. Lee High School. He says he often applies the skills he learned during his time in the Army to his teaching career today, including patience with himself and others, teamwork, the importance of a positive environment, and working with a variety of skills and individuals to achieve a common goal.

Thank you, Specialist Allen, for your dedicated service to our country and to Tyler ISD!

*Tyler ISD is honored to employ Veterans from all branches of service throughout our District. We are grateful to these Veterans for their service to our country. In celebration of Veterans Day, we will highlight a few of these incredible individuals throughout the week.
