Trustee Spotlight – Rev. Fritz Hager, Jr.
Rev. Fritz Hager, Jr. has served as Trustee, representing District 6, since 2015. He is the Executive Pastor of Bethel Bible Church in Tyler. Before entering the ministry, he held executive roles at companies in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and Atlanta, Georgia.
Rev. Hager says what he values most about serving on the Board of Trustees is working with people from diverse backgrounds who are united by a common love of children and a desire to improve the quality of education offered to all children. “Tyler ISD will only be successful if we continue to attract and retain the best people and I enjoy being a very small part of that,” Rev. Hager says.
A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Mr. Hager served as First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and was awarded a Silver Star award for valorous action. He earned a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies as well as a Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary.
When asked who his favorite teacher was growing up, Rev. Hager says, “I moved to Tyler after my freshman year of high school and in my three years at Lee had some great teachers - too many to name them all. But a few were my favorites: Ms. Schofield in Biology, Ms. Gandillon in Geometry, Mr. Maxwell in Physics, Ms. Campbell in Trig, Ms. Martin in Algebra II and Ms. Berry in World History. However, there were two teachers that made it possible for me to gain acceptance to West Point, Coach Theron Pickle and my counselor, Ms. Wilma Dunfee. I’m forever grateful to them for seeing more in me than I knew was there.”
Thank you, Rev. Hager, for your commitment and service on the Tyler ISD Board of Trustees.
