Tyler ISD joins millions of others as we celebrate the achievements and contributions of African Americans during National Black History Month.
Black History Month originally began as Black History Week in 1926 and was scheduled to take place the second week of February to coincide with the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass. It later became Black History Month and was officially recognized by President Gerald R. Ford in 1976. Since then, every American president has continued to designate February as Black History Month.
Below is a list of ceremonies, events and activities taking place at Tyler ISD campuses. Events will be added to this list as they become finalized.
