The Tyler ISD Board of Trustees recognized the achievements of students and staff during its regularly scheduled meeting Monday, February 21, 2017. The primary focus of the Board Recognition Program is to acknowledge accomplishments of District students, staff, departments and campuses.
The Board first recognized the efforts of the two District students of the month for February. The elementary student of the month is Aahana Kumar, a second grade student at Jack Elementary School. Amaya Fields, an twelfth grade student at John Tyler High School, is the secondary student of the month. The above video highlights these two outstanding students.
Also recognized were students from Rice Elementary SChooland John Tyler High School. Rice Elementary School kindergartener Serenity Carpenter and second-grader Carmen Bravo recently participated in the 2016 NED “How Are You a Leader?” International Poster Contest. Both girls claimed first place in their age divisions, competing among 2,000 entries from 21 states and four countries. Bryson Smith, a senior at John Tyler High School for his athletic achievements in being named the American State Bank Player of the Year for two consecutive years; 2016 All East Texas MVP; 11 6A District MVP for 2016-2017.
The Tyler ISD February Teacher of the Month is Khellen Paul, a sixth grade teacher at Dogan Middle School.
