We took a moment to catch up with Bryan and to learn about some of his favorite experiences as a student in Tyler ISD.
What was your favorite subject/activity/involvement in high school? Why?
Being the editor of the Southern Accent campus newspaper. It taught me persuasive writing that I continue to use every day.
Who was your favorite teacher? Why?
Mrs. Wilbanks (History). History truly excited Mrs. Wilbanks and that love was contagious. She made learning history enjoyable. I stay in touch with her to this day and still love visiting with her about local politics
What advice, if any, would you offer to high school students today?
Set a goal. Who do you want to be? What do you want to do? How do you want to be known? Then, devote everything you have to achieve that goal. There will be highs and lows and bumps along the way; but, don't let those external factors detour you from doing all that you can to achieve your goals!
