Young Audiences of Northeast Texas has announced that Tyler ISD art teacher Carolyn Stewart will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2017 Arts in Education Awards event on Thursday, April 6, 2017.
Three additional Tyler ISD Arts Educators will be honored by receiving awards in Arts Teaching Excellence and Rising Star categories:

Arts Teaching Excellence – Middle School honoree is Lisa Lininger, Director of Orchestras at Three Lakes Middle School;

Stewart and the other finalists were selected from nominations made to Young Audiences of Northeast Texas. Individual arts educators from public or private schools within the Region 7 ESC geographic area were eligible to be nominated. Finalists were selected by a panel of local arts professionals and community members.
“We were very pleased with the level of response from the community during this third year of open nominations,” said Amy Baskin, Young Audiences’ Executive Director. “The caliber of the nominations made for hard choices by our panel of judges.” said Baskin. “All the honorees dedicate themselves to both their students and their profession – they really are amazing.”
Finalists will be honored at a dinner the evening of April 6 at Hollytree Country Club in Tyler where they will be presented with award packages that include grants and complimentary arts experiences for them and their students from Young Audiences. Tickets for the event can be purchased at Young Audience’s website www.yanetexas.org or call 903-561-2787.
