Tyler ISD is hosting a parent engagement event for Spanish speaking families Saturday morning at Boulter Middle School.
“The days of parents coming to the district for information are long gone,” Rawly Sanchez, Tyler ISD chief administrative officer of Area 2 schools, said. “Therefore, Superintendent Dr. Marty Crawford has charged us with going out to the parents. With our demographics, it is imperative that we repeatedly reach out to the Hispanic community so that these parents also have the resources they need to help their student succeed.”
The event will focus on key areas that include how to engage children in reading while at home, transitioning from elementary to middle school and how to keep children safe in the real and virtual worlds. Parents will be able to choose three workshops in these areas according to their interest and availability of space.
Many vendors and sponsors from the community will also be on hand throughout the morning.
