Saturday, May 6, 2017, Tyler ISD voters approved a $198 Million called bond election. The approval of this referendum will provide funding for renovations and additions to the flagship high schools of East Texas: Robert E. Lee High School and John Tyler High School. This building package will provide improved learning environments for the nearly 5,000 students that journey through their high school years, as part of the over 18,000-student school district the community graciously supports.
While school construction programs are not performance outcomes, updated building initiatives are important inputs. Instructional and learning environments do matter and when paired with continuous academic improvement, our teachers and students can carry on making the outcome enhancements our community deserves, energizing our high schools toward greatness.
On behalf of the Tyler Independent School District Board of Trustees, staff, and students, thank you for your support in the passing of this bond election. As we continue the academic work and focus on successful student outcomes, we welcome you to continue your engagement in making your school system great.
