Tyler ISD to offer after school care to families affected by Tyler YMCA closing

September 28, 2017

Tyler ISD understands the value of after school educational enrichment programs for our students and families. Therefore, in response to the recent closing of the Tyler YMCA, Tyler ISD will offer affected families after school enrichment opportunities. The plans were developed and tailored to meet the current enrollment and participation needs of each affected campus.

Jones and Peete elementary schools will have a temporary after school enrichment program for kindergarten through 5th grade students available every day until 6 p.m. Due to limited enrollment at these two campuses, the program will be offered through Friday, November 16th. It is the hope of the District that providing this temporary after school program will give parents adequate time to make permanent arrangements for their children.

In addition, after school care at Andy Woods Elementary School will continue through the remainder of the school year. After school care for kindergarten through 5th grade students will be provided by the Boys and Girls Club and after school care for Pre-K will be provided by Tyler ISD. Both Pre-K and kindergarten through 5th grade programs are tuition-based and will operate at the same fee as the YMCA program.

Please contact each campus front office for more information about after school care.
