Hundreds of Tyler ISD elementary students recently went head to head – or brain to brain – in the spring district UIL academic competition. Increasing from eight campuses participating in last year's competition, 15 campuses provided 593 students to compete in various events such as music memory, number sense, maps, graphs and charts, ready writing, spelling, and more.
Because UIL only allows eight schools to compete in a “district” it was necessary to form two “areas” so that all schools could participate. Area 1 schools included Bonner, Bell, Birdwell, Caldwell, Douglas, Owens, and Andy Woods, where the Owens Eagles claimed first place. Area 2 schools included Austin, Clarkston, Dixie, Griffin, Jack, Jones, Orr, and Rice. In Area 2, the Rice Rangers took champion honors.
Congratulations to all students and sponsors for your hard work and success!
