As the field for college admittance continues to be increasingly competitive, the application process itself can be overwhelming for students and families. Tyler ISD is hosting “Jump Start Juniors” Monday, April 16, from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at the Career and Technology Center, for all juniors and their families to give valuable resources on navigating the college application process.
“The Jump Start Juniors: College Admission 101 event will focus on encouraging juniors (the Class of 2019) to get started this summer on their applications, register to‘re-take’ their SAT and ACT tests, fine tune their resumes, and hear a little about financial aid,” Diane Carnes, Tyler ISD college and career counselor, said.
Attendees will be able to hear an overview of the college application process, a brief presentation regarding FAFSA (federal student aid application), as well as tips and strategies from college admissions representatives.
“Jump Start Juniors will be a relaxed, but very informative, session for our families,” Ms. Carnes said. “At the end of the evening, we know our students and families will be better prepared and more confident in the whole application process.”
