2018 Robert E. Lee High School valedictorian Cody Olson continues to receive incredible academic honors through the National Merit Scholarship Organization.
Named one of 15,000 National Merit Finalists back in February, he was also awarded the Baylor University Regents' Gold Scholarship, a full-tuition academic scholarship awarded by Baylor University to National Merit Scholarship Finalists who selected Baylor as their first-choice college. The Baylor Regents’ Gold Scholarship awards approximately $43,000 to $45,000 in tuition per academic year, up to four years, and is augmented by the recipients' SAT or ACT score.
In May, he received notification that he was named a National Merit Scholar designee as he was selected as one of 7,500 students from the group of 15,000 finalists to earn one of three types of national merit scholarships: $2,500 scholarship, Corporate-Sponsored Scholarship, or College-Sponsored Scholarship. Cody was one of 4,000 students awarded the College-Sponsored Scholarship.
The son of Jay and Mindy Olson, Cody plans to major in Biochemistry. While at Lee, he served as Drum Major of the Red Raider Band, member of the Lee Jazz Band, president of Mu Alpha Theta math honor society, and director of the National Honor Society. Along with being a National Merit Finalist, Cody was also an AP Scholar with Distinction.
Congratulations, Cody, and Sic’Em!
