Andy Woods Elementary School serves up a love for reading with book tasting

September 13, 2018

Teachers at Andy Woods are serving up a love for reading in the “Café Bibliothéque.”

“The goal of  “Café Bibliothéque” is to get students to talk with each other about reading books, to introduce different types of genres and to encourage the students to finish reading the books that sparked their interests,” Georgeanna Jones,  Andy Woods principal, said.

The library has set the stage with a French café décor and vibe to offer a true “Tasting of the Books.” Fourth grade students are being “served” books of different genres. As students “taste” the different genres, they discuss what they experienced with each book. Several “courses” of books are “served,” and students fill out a “critique.” They then share what they found interesting about the books and are able to create a “menu” of books that interest them.
