The Career and Technology Center has a newly stocked Professional Clothes Closet thanks to generous donations of professional clothing items. Students will be able to select items from the closet to keep and wear to college and career fairs, job interviews and more.
“Since last spring, we have met with several businesses and worked to setup interviews, internships and job opportunities for CTE students,” Jessica Brown, CTC internship coordinator, said. “Through this process, many students didn’t have access to suits or business style clothing to wear to an interview, so the need for professional clothing for our students was discovered. We have some really outstanding students that are being equipped with certifications and opportunities that give them an advantage once they graduate high school. We don’t want the inability to dress professional for an interview to be the barrier that keeps them from reaching that next step.”
Items collected through the donation drive included:
Additionally, Broadway Square Mall donated the clothing racks and Goodwill donated hangers.
Donations will continue to be accepted throughout the school year. All donations MUST be gently used and laundered prior to drop off and can be brought to the Tyler ISD Career and Technology Center main office, 3013 Earl Campbell Parkway.
