Three Tyler ISD seniors will spend the next 16 weeks learning all things banking, thanks to a new internship opportunity through Southside Bank.
The internship program introduces students to all aspects of the banking industry and exposes them to career opportunities Southside Bank has to offer.
Students will rotate through various areas to learn about functions of the banking system, motor banks, lobby responsibilities, in-store branching and bank management, where they will then meet with bank executives.
Robert E. Lee seniors Allecia Priest, Daisy Aguilar and Tayla Ferguson were selected by Southside Bank after an interview process and fulfilling certain requirements, such as holding a 3.5 or greater GPA along with teacher recommendation and parent approval.
At the completion of the program, successful students may be awarded a scholarship and/or offered a full or part time job as a bank teller based on their availability upon graduating high school.
“We are so excited about this new internship opportunity for Tyler ISD senior students,” Jessica Brown, CTE work-based learning coordinator, said. “Successful participants will gain a valuable learning experience as well as a scholarship and employment after graduation. Partnerships such as this program with Southside Bank provide so many benefits to our students that go beyond the classroom.”
