It's National School Counseling Week

February 4, 2019

Tyler ISD is proud to celebrate National School Counseling Week Feb. 4-8, 2019.

“It is a joy to work with the 44 dedicated professional counselors of Tyler ISD," Leigh Anne Barber, Tyler ISD Guidance and Counseling Director, said. "Together we focus on the personal, social/emotional, academic and career goals of our students.”

With a combined experience (Elementary and Secondary) of 425 years in school counseling, this group of educators strives every day to be a compassionate ear, a solution-focused problem-solver, a caring advocate and most of all a support system for their students and campuses.

All Tyler ISD counselors are Professional School Counselors and each wear many hats throughout the school day. Some of these responsibilities include:

  • character education and guidance;

  • student leadership responsibilities;

  • behavior growth;

  • parent/family/student counseling sessions;

  • setting up resources for students/families;

  • determining prevention and intervention strategies;

  • course scheduling;

  • college and career guidance;

  • and So.Much.More!!!

Thank you, counselors, for your tremendous impact on our students!
