Behind the Tyler ISD Payroll and Benefits department are five dedicated employees whose combined 60 years of experience help provide valuable customer service in regard to compensation and insurance to approximately 2,650 eligible employees and an average of 450 substitutes and part-time hourly staff each month.
“Our goal in payroll and benefits is to go above and beyond in helping to provide valued customer service to Tyler ISD employees,” Jill Fondren, Coordinator of Payroll and Benefits, says. “We are about so much more than paychecks. We are here to make sure all employees are well assisted so that they can continue positively impacting students every day.”
Although we only “see” the effects of payroll once per month in our paychecks, the team is busy all month long preparing paychecks to be distributed;
Over 4,000 W2s were processed this year;
Monthly gross payroll averages $9,400,000 per month and was $112,846,196 for the 2017-18 school year;
Tyler ISD is among only 10% of school districts to provide private, self-funded insurance plans;
Employment verification for mortgages, loans, etc. is done in the benefits office.
