John Tyler High School named 2019 Pantry Raid Winner

September 10, 2019

For over 29 years, students at Robert E. Lee and John Tyler high schools have had a friendly competition to feed hungry East Texans.  During the competition, students collect food and funds from their district feeder schools as well as the community to benefit hungry East Texans through the East Texas Food Bank’s partner agencies.  The school that collects the most amount of food earns bragging rights and proudly displays the traveling trophy at their school for the year. Who claimed victory in the 2019 Pantry Raid? John Tyler High School!

Both Tyler Lee and John Tyler High Schools collected a RECORD 95,655 pounds of food combined for the community, providing over 79,700 meals to those in need. According to the East Texas Food Bank, this was the largest amount of food and funds ever collected!  For the past 29 years, Pantry Raid has collected over 1.4 million pounds of food.
