Rice, Owens participate in National 'Rock Your School' Day

September 19, 2019

Rice and Owens Elementary Schools participated in the second annual Rock Your School event, hosted by Get Your Teach On.

Educators across the country participated by creating an outside-the-box educational experience designed to engage their students and bring learning to life in their classrooms.

Rice rocked their school by transforming classrooms in each grade level.  Depending on the grade level, students experienced themes such as Magic School Bus, Harry Potter, the zoo, sports, Johnny Appleseed, and many more.  The rooms were transformed Wednesday after school so students would be surprised Thursday morning when they arrived.

Owens classrooms picked fun themes such as pirates, sports, 80s and more! Students and teachers wore costumes matching their classroom theme and also participated in engaging learning activities throughout the day.

Co-Founder of Get Your Teach On, Hope King, says, “Our mission is to engage as many teachers as possible, who in turn will engage and inspire literally millions of students. It all starts with us. If educators feel inspired, we can be the difference in a child’s life. We can help instill the joy of life-long learning in our students.”
