CTC STEM classes hold Cardboard Boat Regatta

September 25, 2019

S.T.E.M. Practicum students put their science and math skills to the test recently by competing in a Cardboard Boat Regatta.

The MIT engineering project required students to build boats that float using only cardboard and duct tape.

Projects are graded on research, design and problem-solving, and boats must float while holding a pilot.

Some projects needed more research and development, while others accomplished the task at hand.

After the completion, students returned to class to evaluate their projects and research additional ways to increase their boat's effectiveness for the next Regatta race.
