Area educators tour nationally recognized Hubbard Middle School AVID program

February 17, 2020

Approximately 20 educators from across the region toured Hubbard Middle School’s nationally recognized AVID (Advancing Via Individual Determination) program during the school's AVID Showcase event.

The AVID Showcase event gave local educators a glimpse into Hubbard’s AVID program by offering content observations, student and teacher discussion panels, and overall general collaboration.

AVID is a college readiness program that equips students at the elementary and secondary levels with skills they need to succeed on a path to college and career success. Nationwide, school districts are embracing AVID’s philosophy and strategies across their entire K-12 systems to transform instruction, leadership and culture to ensure college readiness and improved academic performance for all students.

Hubbard received national accolades in 2017 when it was named a National AVID Demonstration School. National AVID Demonstration Schools show significant evidence of the program’s impact school-wide, particularly with the infusion of AVID methodologies in content-area classrooms.
